EDKUB, founded in 2018 by Swiss composer-producer and bass player Fred Sumi, bridges Cuban and electronic music. This is the fruit of a friendship and collaboration with great Cuban musicians during several recording sessions in Havana. Since his first visit to Cuba in 1995, Fred has been passionate about Cuban music, particularly timba. EDKUB arose from his love for Cuban grooves, blending them with warm electronic sounds.

The band is made up of Marbis Manzanet with her deep and intense voice, the brothers Yassell Sotomayor and Raysel Sotomayor with their voices imbued with African roots. Roicel Riveron (drums and timbal) former member of the famous Cuban band "Manolito y su Trabuco", Duniesky Barreto (congas), Maykel Garcia Gonzalez (piano, keyboards) current pianist of the legendary Cuban band Los Van Van, and Eduardo Bringuez Ayarde (trumpet), all three former members of the famous Cuban group "Pupy y Los que Son Son". Together, they create a unique fusion, intertwining Cuban rhythms with contemporary electronic elements, offering a captivating musical experience.

Since the beginning of EDKUB, Jack El Calvo, famous Cuban music DJ based in Paris, has been supporting the project. He selected the first single KEY JAM as the generic of his mixes on social networks during the confinement in 2020, in particular in his mix The Lockdown Sessions - Para Bailar Casino  on New Morning Radio, Paris.

The new single COLOR DE ROSAS is driven by syncopated drums and percussion. Warm vocals with melancholy melodies convey a philosophical message about everyday life.

Colorful keyboards tint this Cuban fusion and a jazzy trumpet improvises on a piano tumbao.

The single SOLO DEJATE LLEVAR is a playful and catchy song. A solid vocal hook by the brothers Yassell Sotomayor and Raysel Sotomayor answers to the lyrical voice of Marbis Manzanet, carried by a dancing music inspired by Cuban reggaeton, where spherical electronic sounds merge with piano and tres tumbaos.

The single YAYA is a fresh and spicy song in a unique and authentic blent of salsa and electronic music. A very catchy chorus spices up the song referring to the daily life of Cuba. A Cuban orchestration marries delightfully electronic sounds. The videoclip has been nominated for the Premios Lucas 2022 in Cuba in the category of best actor with the actor Jorge Molina.

The single CALLADA is driven by Cuban rumba percussions. A mysterious atmosphere is spreading on which the intimate voice of Marbis Manzanet leads us to the magic of the silent nightfall. The videoclip has been nominated for the Premios Lucas 2023 in Cuba in the category Video Musica Fusion

The single EL VIENTO NOS LLEVA carries us on the wings of love. The beautiful deep voice of Marbis Manzanet Ramos, as a love guard, takes us into a landscape full of light: warm spherical sounds, percussions, trumpets, a melodic keyboard and tres solo. A Cuban feeling leads this new wind of love. It was playlisted on Swiss Official Radio RTS - La Première.

The first single KEY JAM is driven by a powerful Cuban-electro bass line, deep atmospheric synthesizers and electronic rumba clave. Cuban percussions, funky-syncopated keyboard and piano tumbao give the song a tribal live Cuban flavor. A contemplative and jazzy vocal melody, an intense and transcendent jazz trumpet solo lead the song in an unexplored landscape, where the spectrum of sensory perception seems to widen.

EDKUB met in summer 2021 on a beautiful terrace in Havana to perform five songs from its repertoire.

EDKUB plays its song KEY JAM live at BandEra Studio in Havana in summer 2021.

EDKUB plays its song CALLADA live at BandEra Studio in Havana in summer 2021.
